Why I Love Media…
The thought of being intimate with our media devices is somewhat of an overwhelming concept at first. But when one truly stops to think about the relationship we have with these devices then we can begin to understand that there is a true bond between people and their media sources. For example when a person is seperated from their cell phone for only a few hours they seem to be lost and in a panicked mood. What have I missed? Who has tried to contact me? What is going on in the world right now that I don’t know about? These are all questions that would rush through the minds of almost everyone in this situation. This level of comfort that a smart phone or other device brings is what makes this bond more than just a platonic one. We rely on it so often and so much that we learn to love the media. This is neither a good nor bad thing, as mentioned time and again in class. For me the reason why I love media is that no matter where you are or what you are doing you can be anywhere or do practically anything through these devices.
