Why I Heart My Media- Meghan Burke

I heart my media because it lets me listen to my music anytime I want without bothering others around me. I lost my iPod about 2 weeks ago and it wasn’t until then that I realized how much I rely on it for internet and music throughout the day. Now every time I want to go on a run, I know I won’t have my tunes to pump me up and keep me going. And during late night study sessions I can’t listen to music without waking my roommates. It takes losing a cell phone or a iPod to realize how much we rely on them every day to get us through our daily trials and tribulations.

The Media and a Long-Lost Friend Brooke Scanlon

The media brings us together and connects us with old friends and new ones. When I was in fifth grade, my family went on vacation to a resort in Florida. I met a boy named Joseph and we became instant friends. We spent a lot of time together and had so much fun. Once the vacation ended, we became pen pals and we wrote to each other for a while. When I got older, I tried to find him on google or Facebook. I was never able to find him. A few months ago, he added me on Facebook. He found an old letter I wrote him that had my full name on it. We have been reconnecting and talking ever since. Without the media, this would never have happened because he lives a thousand miles away and our paths would probably never cross. The media brings us together, for better and for worse, and makes connecting with friends, old and new, possible.

I love my cell phone because it allows to me to keep in contact with my older brother that lives in Ohio, my other two older siblings and their families that live in indiana, and the rest of my family at home. I love the internet because it keeps me in contact with distant friends through Facebook and I can also watch videos and read articles about my little brother’s high school football team.
