Why I Love Media

Media has now became such big part of everyone’s life, hence it is important to reflect on our relationship with media. Growing up media such as films were a gateway from reality into new worlds. It always fascinated me how all these details went into creating an illusion and making people believe that what they are watching is real for a moment. Later on, moving away from a country that at the time was not as submerged in media was a shock at first. Most kids my age had smartphones already and social medias applications. It did not take until I also picked up on these applications. Throughout my high school years is when I first really reflected on the benefits that having access to these platforms gives one, especially being originally from a country where these are still being discovered as they are new applications. The reason I love media is because although its setbacks, it allows people to share their experiences, express themselves, educate themselves and I think most importantly start discussions. Media has allowed me to gain more understanding, insight and knowledge about myself and people around me; helping shape who I am.
