Why is the world of media da BOMB? -Victoria Saul

It is remarkable how our society has been capable of continuously stumbling upon amazing, new discoveries in the world of media. Without these innovations our economy and personal lives would be considerably altered. I appreciate these advancements in our modern techonology mainly because of the things it allows me to do. This includes being able to be in constant contact with my friends and family. No matter the distance between us, we have the ability to keep in touch and maintain a close relationship as though we were never separated thanks to the inventions of long distance calls, text messaging, and skype. Another reason I am so greatly for our advancements in media is that I am capable of producing images such as the one linked with the unimaginable resources provided for the use of photography and capturing memorable moments and marvels with a simple snapshot. All in all, even though our society most commonly takes the world of media for granted, having these technologies provided for us is one of the greatest pleasures and our world should be ever so thankful.

Today’s class Mark raised a point that we required more from media and less from people. Do we really care less about other individuals? I doubt that. Actually media is excatly a way we care about others. It enables us to know what people that we care about are up to, how are they doing through every texting and signiture they send and pictures they upload, etc. When I skype with my family and friends from the other side of this world, it’s really phenomenal to realize that we are seperated by a screen!!!!!! One thing amazing about media is that it literally brings people closer!

Why I Love My Media Kevin Moeller

Why do I love my media you ask? Over the weekend at the tailgate, I lost my new Droid X2 smartphone. I never realized just how worthless I was without my smartphone until now. Its truly amazing how much they are capable of and how much easier they make my day to day life. Wish you were here DROID, missing you very much.

Travis Williams: Why I Lurve Media

I love media because my culture demands it. That being said, I am completely fascinated by media and the ways we interact with it as a culture. For example, although interacting with my peers in person is real life, there are many situations where it is easy to forget that the person you are interacting with is a PERSON. Walking around campus today with my earphones in, I realized that I viewed the people walking around me as no more that objects I need to avoid walking into. I also work in customer service and it is easy to sometimes feel as I’m viewed as a robot designed to make my customers happy.

However, when viewing people’s facebook accounts, I find myself thinking of them as people again. What have they been up to as told by their recent pictures? Who have they been talking to? I love media because it is something that is ever-changing and ever-evolving. We are in the future baby!

Why do I love media?

I love media because school is difficult. Without Google, countless hours of my life would have been spent pouring over chemistry and physics textbooks trying to find answers to questions that can be answered in three seconds on Google. Yahoo answers or answers.com are some of the most useful tools I have used in my schooling so far, people just as confused as I am sometimes getting answers that are straightforward with terminology that anyone can understand rather than textbook terminology that doesn’t always make clear sense.

Truth: Not Really Alone

One of my biggest fears is to be alone sometimes especially when I’m going through a stressful situation or I just don’t feel up to par. Although some argue that media makes us more alone than ever, as far as my situation goes, I have to disagree. When it’s quiet and dark and it seems as if the whole world is asleep but me, I want to turn on the tv and watch a good show. When I’m running down the street and all I can hear is my feet hit the pavement an my thoughts scattered throughout my mind, I want to put my headphones in and instead hear my favorite song. When I miss my boyfriend and long to see him, I want to pull my iPhone out and FaceTime him. The point of all this being that I heart media because it allows me an escape from loneliness.
