Capture whenever I want, share wherever I am. This for me is media, combined with photography. Because of my beautiful iPhone and my social Instagram I can develop my photo skills and share it for free with whoever is interested. Nothing is more needed in my media world.

Why I Heart My Media

A life without media would be very weird and empty, if you would ask me. Because since I was born I got use to media products like the television, PlayStation or the computer.

So over the years I found out there are many reasons why I like my media..

Thanks to media I can know at any time of the day what happens around me. I can check the news on the internet with a click or swipe on the laptop or even on my telephone. If I want to know what my friends and family are doing I can always check my social media from where I can be tagged to join social group activities like going to the movies or hanging out. Or people can tag me online to the things I like. There are also Vloggers and Bloggers who give me an interesting perspective in their lives. By example the video weblog of Mo Vlogs. It’s about a young man from Dubai who’s trying to have fun with his friends and family between all the wealth and luxury. It’s very interesting to see when he realizes that even with all that money and expensive products around, having fun with the people around you is more important.

Movies, internet, television and games are very important in my life. These are all media products. So it can be said that I like media in general. The reason I like movies is because they are a wonderful way to tell a story. There are many styles and special effects that can be used to create a movie. So a film has many opportunities for a talented filmmaker to show their skills.  Internet is a part of my daily life. It gives me information about everything, from serious news articles to hilarious(underground)comedy shows. Sometimes I even think that internet is so important to me that I live online. Television is a medium I’ve been watching less in recent years. Personally, I think that the world of on demand media is better than television. Nevertheless, I think television is still very good for viewing talk shows or a good documentary. The beauty of television is that it provides direct access to a world that is close to me but also a world that can be very far away. Games are a great way to test your own skills. In addition, it’s just beautiful and impressive to see that you can create and develop yourself in a world created on a computer.

Most of the time my thoughts are on music, movies and the internet. I use many media products at the same time.  I’m processing the information that is available on the internet while I’m listening to music and even focus on the television at the same time. So it can be said that I create a high attention curve for media in general.

That’s why I’ll quickly miss media if it’s not around me.

Media, especially on my phone, are nowadays indispensable when it comes to keeping in touch with friends and family or, for example, ordering products and paying bills. Because of the many applications that are on my phone, I sometimes don’t need a computer anymore. For me a phone is even more personal than a computer. That’s the reason I feel that media is getting even closer to me and that I need media more and more.

Therefore a life without media is unthinkable to me.

For me, the media are a way to express myself. Having an ongoing mind can sometimes be challenging; it may keep you up all night at times or even distract you while you are ought to do assignments for school. This assignment has not been an exeption; while writing this I constantly got distracted by new music videos, interesting YouTube videos and the newest Instagram posts by my favourite people. These “distractions” nourish the right side of my brain, most of the times giving me new ideas for filmconcepts, interesting camera angles or a short story. Then the circle of medialife occurs; the absorbed media have been processed in my brain and are, by sharing videos, photos and stories myself, set free again. The media for me are a way of expressing myself, they are a way of clearing my thoughts for short periods at a time. The media lead to art, my art. The art I will hopefully someday be able to share with the rest of the world in the form of feature films.

I like this quote by Bill Gates because it illustrates how media is used at a massive scale.

“The PC has improved the world in just about every area you can think of. Amazing developments in communications, collaboration and efficiencies. New kinds of entertainment and social media. Access to information and the ability to give a voice people who would never have been heard.”

WHY I HEART MEDIA

The development of media has provided us various ways of communication in our modern society: Movies, books, newspaper and social platforms and a lot more. However, the concept of social networks remains in my head and revealed to be the reason WHY I HEART MEDIA. It Is not only about constantly creating media but also to communicate in a direct way since nearly everybody owns a smartphone nowadays. Especially, the idea Facebook has designed after the Las Vegas shooting this Sunday – Safety check and Crisis Response. These settings provide users to request and give needed help to others after a disaster occurred. Furthermore, you can check whether your loved ones remain safe.

That way digital media is used to connect people in need and support can be provided in a faster and direct way. Regarding the political development and changes, a seemingly increasing number of attacks and explosions have happened worldwide, which makes this setting very useful.

In this context Long talk short: I love my friends and family, which is WHY I HEART MEDIA.

Why I heart Media

I heart media, because it allows me to stay connected to people even when I’m not with them physically. Me being a student abroad, and half of my family living in Australia, it is really important for me to remain close to my family. Media allows me to do so whenever and wherever I want. It allows me to share my life with my family to the point where they, and I, almost feel like they are right there with me.

Why I heart media

I ❤ media because I simply won’t be able to pay my rent without it.

Before I started Media & Culture at the UvA, I studied Communication and Multimedia design at the HvA and also found a parttime job in this field.  As a UX designer I guess you should see me and my team as representatives of the users of the web. We create the online world users navigate in by designing the right user interfaces and look & feel that fulfills the needs of the user. It really is my passion to create beautiful UI’s and graphics because I feel the users of the web need some guidance with reaching their online goals.

Soooo if you’re in need of a new website or app don’t hesitate to contact me.

Why I <3 Media

I heart media, because it seems to me like ever since I have gotten into media, I see myself connecting easier to people. It’s easier to find same interests, since media is always one of them.

Even tough most people see media as a disconnecting from real life platform, I see it as a way of communication. People tend to forget that what your typing is also real life, and those people are not accepting that media is a thing we are now. They see media as a thing that they live with, so it is not our life. We are media and that helps us connecting
